The 2021–22 Budget announced $4.3 million for the development of a new Franchise Disclosure Register. The Register will assist prospective franchisees to make an informed decision before entering a franchise agreement.

Interested parties are invited to comment on the issues raised in the Exposure Draft, Explanatory Statement, and accompanying Guide.

The Exposure Draft and Explanatory Statement propose a legal framework for changes to the Franchising Code of Conduct to implement the Franchise Disclosure Register.

The accompanying Guide provides an overview of the legal framework and information about the online portal which is being developed to support the implementation of the Register. The Guide also poses questions to interested parties regarding the implementation of the Franchise Disclosure Register.
